Depression

Hi guys :)

So recently in class we were discussing why depression stats are so high and still increasing. The country that I live in, Norway, is one of the most rich countries in the world. But what is surprising is that Norway according to stats is one of the countries with the most depressed people in the world. So in my social class we were having this discussion about why it is like this. Obviously money doesn't buy happiness, but does having money make one unhappy? There are people in the world that are starving and would do anything for 50 cents for food, I do not think that having money automatically makes you sad, I think not having enough money the bills is obviously heartbreaking and difficult. Still I have never met as happy people than the ones I met in a slum that had nothing, how can they be so happy and we are not? No, I do not think it is the money that makes people unhappy, but money has contributed to shape a culture that is making us unhappy. In this culture there is A LOT of pressure and comparing.

Wow I realise that was a long intro to get to my point, but the point is I think that comparing and being competitive is a factor in what is depressing my nation, and maybe the entire western world. We are ungrateful and we feel like we have to compete with each other; who has the biggest house? Who has the nicest car? etc.

Anyway, when it comes to teenagers I think the same thing is going on, but with other things. We compare ourselves, and because we don't feel as good as others it makes us sad. "OH no, she has way more likes on facebook", "All the boys at school like her" also we compete in being the better person "I am so much more selfish than everybody", "My bestfriend is more funny than me". Or you know things similar to these. Nobody can be the best in everything so sometimes we feel like losers, like we are the worst at everything. This constantly not feeling good enough is very depressing.

Teen depression can be a result of many things, being a teen is hard. But when we started talking about that comparing could depress people, I really felt I could relate to it. So I thought maybe some of you also felt that way. If this is the case I encourage you to pray against comparing in your life. I've probably already written about comparing on this blog,  but I feel like this is important.

God never compares, so please don't compare yourself to anyone. You are special! You weren't made to be compared, people are too different and too individual to be compared. We are all precious in our own way! I know that it is hard, but remember that you are special and very very very loved!

God bless all of you affected by this horrible attack

"I was wrong, you were right"

Thought I'd change the design for summer :) Hope you like it :)

I am a very competitive person. I hate admitting that I'm wrong and I always end up in discussions. And I think all humans have a competitive and stubborn side, some more than others though. We just want to always be right because we think that is what people admire us for. But that is wrong! Humility and the ability to admit our wrongs is just so important and much more admirable. People admire people that stand their ground, and it is important to stand your ground, but when people know they are wrong and still don't back down that actually isn't admirable at all. I really have to practice saying: "You were right, I was wrong".

I used to think that if I admitted I was wrong or didn't win every discussion it was a weakness. But sometimes being strong is not always winning, but accepting that we loose sometimes.

Sometimes I end up in situations where I even feel like I'm right, but then it is still important to respect other people's opinions and just drop it. Don't nag on.

I have met people and even been in churches with the "I-am-NEVER-wrong-attitude". And it is not a church that is nice to go to, or not people it is fun to hang out with. That's how I realized I do the same thing, and I want to work with being a bit more humble.

When we are christian it is important that we remember that the way we behave is sooo important. We should shine God's love through us. Even though nobody's perfect and we all make mistakes, but we at least should try. Because to unchristian people our actions represent our religion. We don't want christians to be known as arrogant people that never back down on things.

So be humble as best as you can! Let's all make an effort to be extra nice. It is a strength, not a weakness. Ask god for help and we can all help change some people's negative view on christians.

Change

long time no see. sorry :(

So, change, it's a scary thing :( It can be good, but sometimes it unexpected creeps up on us. Personally there has been so much change in my life. I feel like I have lost so many things that was important to me :( ever felt that way? It really sucks! I'm finished at my safe little christian school, and next year I'm starting a new scary school. I feel my future is unknown and things are never gonna be the same. I really feel like crying. I miss my friends and my school.

So maybe you are also in a situation in life where things are changing? Maybe your parents are getting divorced, siblings moving out, new school, moving, lost friends or anything else. Things may be changing suddenly or gradually, expected or unexpected. The worst part is we can't control it. Maybe you have that same lump in your stomach as you think: "things are never going to be the same". And maybe you also feel a little scared?

But we need to remember that God has control. He is always the same, he doesn't just suddenly change. He is always with us! We don't need to be scared, we can trust him :) Sometimes people just change, but we can always rely on God! Have you ever experienced that one of you friends just isn't the same anymore? or let you down? I can promise that will never happen in you relationship with God :) In the bible is says that God is our rock.

Psalm 18:2

  The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Other than that I just wanted to say stay positive! Maybe things are changing for the better? You need to let go of the past, but you don't need to let go of all the good memories :) Take all the good things you've learned and experienced with you. And TRUST GOD!

Proverbs 15:13

A happy heart makes the face cheerful,
   but heartache crushes the spirit.

EXAMS :O

YIKES! I did my final exam on friday :O I was really nervous, but I hope it went ok. This time of year is horrible so many tests and exams and lots of school work.

So I just wanted to encourage you to give those things to God :) Nothing is too big or too small for him. He cares about everything in your life, nothing is too small. So I just want to encourage you to put away your books, turn of the TV and shut your laptop for ten minutes. Get your bible out and just spend ten minutes (or more) with God. It doesn't take long time and it is the best anti-stress cure there is. Pray that he will help you be calm and remember what you studied. So here is a little "exam-biblvers-list" I put together for my exams and sent it to my classmates :) Maybe you can send it to yours too and we can start a chain of encouragement and anti-stess. ha ha ha :D

Sunshine's exam bible verse list :
Philippians 4:5
1 peter 5:7
John 16:33
Nahum 1:7

Isaiah 41:10
Matthew 18:14
1 Thessalonians 5:16
and my favourite : Psalm 23

No stress, God bless :)

Friendship!

Of course Jesus is our very best friend and nobody can replace him. I also think it's really important to have good christian friends. It's hard to be the only christian around with nobody that shares your beliefs. It's good to have someone you can talk to about christian topics and that doesn't pressure you to do stuff that you know is wrong.

And don't be sad if you don't have a friend like that, just pray! Prayer always helps! Start going to a youth group in your church if you don't already go to one. But even in church it can be hard. But just hang in there, God relly loves you and wants you to have amazig friends that support you.

So I want to tell some of my own story. About 5 years ago I started praying for good friends. I was having a really tough time at school. I felt really rejected and tried all sorts of things to fit in, because I wasn't being myself I continued to have tough time. (I talk more about being yourself in my Dare to be different post)

I kept on praying for years and when I was 13 years old I started going to youth meetings and got some new friends. But I sort of fell between two clicks, and I remember a specific incident where my friends planed to set me up and ditch me in a park while they ran of to a friend's house. This episode is of course forgiven and we joke about it now :). But this incident and many other things really broke down my already low confidence. I thought I was a really weird and that nobody really wanted my friend. I thought people just was my friend because they felt they had to or out of sympathy. I was a hurt person and I felt so rejected. I felt like a freak! I seriously thought there was something wrong with me. It has taken years to build up confidence in my personality again.

And if you have any of those thoughts; that you are a freak, and that nobody wants to be your friend, or that something is wrong with you, I just want to say IT IS NOT TRUE. Do not let the negative seeds that other people and The Enemy plant into your heart grow! Ask God to uproot those weeds and sow positive flowers instead. YOU ARE WANTED AND NOT A FREAK. Don't question who you are! It is important to forgive the people that hurt you (you can read my how to deal with mean people post, haha lots of linking in this post but I didn't want to make it a billion words long :) ),  but don't believe the words they say. Sometime they don't even need to say bad words, just body language or whispers or the way they look at you can make you feel stupid. Have you ever experienced that?

Anyway back to the story, things got better between me and the girls in my class/church, but I never felt I was a part of their group. I continued praying for years, but started to get frustrated nothing happened. But this school year things seemed to get better and for 6 months thing were fine, but suddenly we had almost like a conflict in my church youth group. Out of respect to them I will not post any details, I know also I made mistakes. I think we have sorted things out and I have forgiven them and hope they have forgiven me to. Anyways, so I ended up changing churches and suddenly I realized that after only weeks I had gotten some great friends! Friends I really can trust! :D GOD ANSWERED MY PRAYERS!

And he will defiantly answer yours too! So keep praying for new friends, and don't doubt yourself! YOU ARE AN AWSOME PERSON!

When the heart understands...

I want to kind of continue the last post's topic a bit. I mentioned yesterday that we need to trust God with our hearts as well as our heads. I think it's like that with many things. For example how great God is, that he loves us, that he is in control, that he is faithful and so on. In every church service, at every youth meeting, in every christinan book it always says God loves us. Our heads knows he loves us, but we need to realize it with our heart. I know I already have posted this quote on this blog (in this post), but I feel like it is more relevant here. So this is a quote by worship artist Kim Walker, towards the end of her live version of the song "How he loves", she says:

"There are some of you here that have not encountered the love of God, and tonight God wants to encounter you and wants you to feel his love, his amazing love... The love of God changes us and we're never the same, we're never the same after we encounter the love of God. We're never the same after we encounter the love of God."

I think that there are some truths that need to sink into our heart. I can tell you a million times that God loves you, that you are beautiful, that you are wanted, that you are special, that God has control, that you are talented, that God is faithful and that he never fails. But it won't help, if you don't believe it with your heart. I can tell those things to myself a million times, and I know they are true, but sometimes I struggle trusting them.

Jeremiah 31:3: "I have loved you with an everlasting love"

I think that it's not about what we hear, it's about who we hear them from. I think that God is the only one that can help you understand. It's is much more powerful when he says "I love you" than when I say "he loves you". Do you know what I'm saying. God has many ways to say "I love you", sometimes you feel the holy spirit, sometimes you just know in your heart he loves you, sometimes he speaks through others, sometimes he gives us experiences of his love and sometimes you hear it, dream it or see it. God speaks to us in many ways, just make sure you are listening in many ways :) And remember that the bible is The Word Of God. All the words in the bible is God talking to you.

Sometimes it's a revelation sometimes it is a slow process. If you want these truths in your heart pray to God and ask him to show you his love or faithfulness or whatever you feel you haven't understood with your heart. Read in the bible, and remember that it is God's words. A very practical tip is keeping a diary where you write down all the times you experience God's presents, miracles, faithfulness, love and so on.

We don't understand, we trust :)

Sometimes we can get really frustrated with God, we have know idea what he is doing and we start questioning him. "Why doesn't he answer my prayers RIGHT NOW?" "Why does bad things happen to me?" "WHAT ARE YOU DOING GOD? ", "Why aren't you healing me? Do you want me to be sick?" "Why is this happening, why is that happening? URGH!"

There is no reason to be mad at God, because we are just humans, we don't have the same understanding as him. We never will! Imagine a HUGE cruise ship. Really really big! The biggest in the world! Imagine that the cruise ship is the universe. Our understanding would only be as big as a drop of water on the deck. Gods understanding would be bigger than the oceans the ship sailed on.

God can see past, present and future. He truly KNOW and WANTS what is BEST for YOU! There is no reason to be stressed out or mad or scared. Because god has control. He knows what he is doing, he understands everything! The only thing we need to understand about the situation is that God is in control. We don't need to try to understand, we need to trust him!

TRUST that God knows what he is doing and will help you through the hard times. Trust that God does want to help you out and does help you out! Maybe in a different way that you had expected. Maybe he is doing something beyond our understanding.

Nahum 1:7: The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.

If you feel like this is something you struggle with, you are not alone! Even Jesus disciples struggled with this. Let's take a look at a story from the bible. I have posted this story before, so if you want to read more about it, click here. This is from Luke 8:22-25:

One day he and his disciples got in a boat. "Let's cross the lake," he said. And off they went. It was smooth sailing, and he fell asleep. A terrific storm came up suddenly on the lake. Water poured in, and they were about to capsize. They woke Jesus: "Master, Master, we're going to drown!"
Getting to his feet, he told the wind, "Silence!" and the waves, "Quiet down!" They did it. The lake became smooth as glass.
Then he said to his disciples, "Why can't you trust me?" (the Message)

So here we can see that disciples did not understand what was going on. They we're really scared and thought Jesus didn't know what was going on. In the book of Mark, Mark also writes about this particular situation, and in Mark 4:28 it says the disciples actually question Jesus and asked him "Teacher, don't you care that we are going to drown?". And as you can read above they had no reason to question him at all, because he had control all along.

I find this story really comforting, because I have really struggled lately with trusting God and trusting he is in control. These last weeks I have really learned to trust God. Everything will turn out all right. I don't need to be angry at him for not healing me, I think I even blamed him for not stopping me get ill. I questioned him! I'm being treated now, and I will get better. Even though I didn't understand what God was doing, it didn't mean he was doing nothing! I have no idea what would of happened if I hadn't prayed for help. We will never know how many disasters God has saved us from, if you think about it that way. I know that God is in control over my situation and illness. It turned out that is wasn't something serious, even is emotionally though being ill, I trust God to get me through it. I trust that God hears all the prayers. I have always known that God has control, but this week I realized that even though it was clear in my head, my heart still didn't know God was in control. I will be healed, i trust that. It is important to apologize when we are mad at God or question him.

If you are in a though situation like that, please don't give up on God. He is helping you, he truly wants what is best for you. Trust him! I have know that it is easier said than done. So if you feel it's hard to trust God is in control or hard to trust he will get you through it, pray that he will help your heart realize that you can trust him and he is in control! There is nothing you can't pray about. I pray all the time that i will trust even more in the Lord. And say thanks that we can trust him. If you genially want to trust the Lord, he sees that. He is never mad at us for not trusting him. So pray, pray, pray! And I will gladly pray for you too if you want, just post below or send an e-mail :)

Here is on of my favourite songs to listen to when I feel down. Lately I have also listen alot to the Norwegian song "Du er den" by Impuls, but the song is so new I couldn't find it.

Fairytale ending :)

Awww, the wedding was so beautiful! We watched it on a big screen in our class room this morning.

So today I'm going to talk about happy endings. I think all of us girls dream of living happily ever after. We all dream of prince charming. Am i right? Sometimes we stress about it and wonder if will ever will find a husband or have our dreams come true. I know I have said this a million times before but, God has a plan for YOU! A custom plan only you can fulfill. This may sound scary, I used to be scared to. "What if God's plan is strict and boring?!" "I don't want some bossy plan to follow" "What if he doesn't want me to chase my dreams?". I had all these thoughts. Now I know that God knows everything, and he knows the best way for you to live your life. His plan for your life is way more exciting and fun than anything you can do in your own power. He knows best! Remember from yesteday? GOD IS FAITHFUL. Trust him! If you trust him you will get an awesome life, better than any fairytale.

And as for you dreams, God was the one that put them in your heart. He can put even bigger dreams in your heart too, as long as you are not too scared to dream them. So if you dream with God! He has some awesome dreams for you.

My awesome science teacher once said "If you want to look back on your life when you are old, and feel like you have reached your goals, lived life to the fullest, done something with your life and made a difference you should act on everything God tells you and follow his plan for you. You will have no regrets"

So, that sums it up then :) And ladies, don't you worry about prince charming, God has planned that out to. He will send you a prince charming somewhere down the road, you don't need to panic :) I think not searching for you your happy ending and stressing about it is key to getting a happy ending. Trust God, you won't regret it!

Same verse as yesterday, but it is worth repeating :)
Jeremiah 29:11: "For I knoe what plan I have for you" declares the Lord "Plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

HOPE!

Firstly I just have to say: My greatest condolences to all the victim's families in the southern states. I am praying for you all! The images on the TV screen breaks my heart. People's houses torn down and utter chaos. Not a pretty sight! God be with all you affected by the horrible weather in the US.

I just wanted to remind all of you that God gives hope! Even in the darkest situation, God is there! Even when things seem hopeless, God has not left your side!

"Hope means hoping when things seem hopeless"

So wherever you are in the world, whatever you situation is TAKE HEART! God has always been faithful, God is always faithful and God always will be faithful! God is always the same. He doesn't change. He will never stop loving us or stop being faithful to us.

John 16:33: I've told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I have conquered this world. (The Message)

Hebrews 10:23: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Darkness cannot consume light, but light can consume darkness. If it's just a little problem at school or a major International emergency, God's light is always stronger. His hope is in any situation, nothing is too small and nothing is too big. And by the way God knows your situation, your feelings, your pains and everything you are going through. He is not oblivious to anything! So start praying for hope in your situation. Pray for God's hope in your life. Fill your heart with his hope and love, instead of all the hopelessness and pain of this world.

Romans 15:13: May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 5:5: Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into out hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

I also recommend reading the bible! It is so filled with encouragement and hope. I have realized that in hard times, when I'm super stressed, sad, defeated and negative and I feel like the world is working against me I tend to read less in the bible and almost turn away from God. But I have discovered that it is in hard times I really should cling to the word of God and seek God with all my heart. Only him can give me hope that doesn't fade. God can comfort me and give me peace if I don't try running from him.

John 14:18: I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. (King James Version)

Isaiah 41:10: So do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will  strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know what plans I have for you" declares the Lord "Plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you Hope and a future.

God of forgiveness

As I was hearing the easter gospel being preached at my church, some of the text stood out to me, and I really just wanted to share some of my thoughts.

You see one of the last things Jesus did on the cross was forgive. After people had beat him, spat at him, whipped him and nailed through his hands and feet, but he still was not being angry, but in fact he saved a man. A man that was a criminal and had sinned. But Jesus did not even hesitate forgiving this criminal and taking him to paradise.

Luke 23 : One of the criminals hanging alongside cursed him: "Some Messiah you are! Save yourself! Save us!"
40-41But the other one made him shut up: "Have you no fear of God? You're getting the same as him. We deserve this, but not him—he did nothing to deserve this."
42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom."
43He said, "Don't worry, I will. Today you will join me in paradise."  (the Message)

What an act of forgiveness! Jesus was in pain and had just been betrayed by these humans. But he knew he was going to die for these humans sins. For the beginning of his life till the very end Jesus never stopped forgiving. So why shouldn't God forgive you your sins? The bible even says Jesus is the exact representation of God's being.

Hebrews 1,3 : This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God's nature. He holds everything together by what he says—powerful words! (The message)

So please just know that if God can even forgive the worst criminal he sure can forgive you too! Forgiveness is what easter is all about. Jesus lived a perfect life without ever sinning and then later was punished for all our sins (sin means the bad stuff we do btw) by being tortured and killed. God gave his only son, Jesus, so that we could be forgiven. Jesus has taken our punishment, so now we can be forgiven. So just pray for forgiveness and just know that God will forgive you. No sin is too big, it has all been dealt with on the cross. THANK YOU LORD!

Colossians 2,12-15 says: 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead.
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed[d] the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.

I really like The Message translation of this, so if you found the verse above a bit heavy, this explains it, this is from verse 13 and onwards: When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ's cross. He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

Boys, boys, boys!

Well this wouldn't be a teenage girl blog if I didn't talk about boys, would it? So I decided to have a segment about boys on this blog with a christian perspective. Mainly because I think girls are kinda under pressure when it comes to guys, you know everyone seems to have a boyfriend, and you don't want to be the single one. Well it's of course very different from school to school and place to place. And I just want to say, I'm just a teen like you guys, no love expert! So I hope you will comment because you knowledge is as good as mine, hee hee :D

So first I just want to say that you are a beautiful, talented, independent and precious person with lots to offer! If you are single, you don't need to let rejection from boys or being the only single girl among your friends steel away your confidence.

God has an amazing plan for your life! Just because you are single now, doesn't mean you are going to be single forever. YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME! I can't stress that enough! So you don't need rush or panic or freak out. God has already planed everything out for you :)

I also think it's important to say you don't need a boyfriend. I'm not saying it's bad to have a boyfriend or anything, please don't misunderstand me. I'm just trying to say that God really really really loves you. And if you don't feel like he loves you or can't seem to realize it or hear people saying it buy you feel like doesn't sink in or touch your heart pray that you will have a revelation of Gods love. I've been there, I hear everybody talk about how much God loves me, and it's hard to explain, but I just did't feel it, or like, man do you get what I'm talking about? Like it just didn't seem real or something, I just didn't realize how much it means that he loved me. In Kim Walkers live version of the song "How he loves" she explains towards the end:

"There are some of you here that have not encountered the love of God, and tonight God wants to encounter you and wants you to feel his love, his amazing love... The love of God changes us and we're never the same, we're never the same after we encounter the love of God. We're never the same after we encounter the love of God."

So to get to my point, you shouldn't need a boyfriend to make you feel loved. You don't need a boyfriend to be appreciated. You don't need a boyfriend to be special. When you encounter the love of God you just realize that God already loves you SO much. God appreciates you like nobody else can! You are already so special to God. A boyfriend can never replace God's love. And if you feel like you have a desire to be loved, and like need attention or whatever, turn to God. Ask him to show you his love for you. He ALWAYS wants to spend time with you, and he wants you to know you are loved. You are not dependent on boys, you are WAY to special and independent to find your value in what boys think.   Your worth is not measured in how many boys like you!

again, I'm not saying there's something wrong with having a boyfriend. I really hope I didn't affend anybody!

A friend that never fails...

Friends let us down. They hurt us, they ignore us, they make mistakes, they turn their backs. Being let down by a friend is horrible. Specially when it is intentional. For example that horrible feeling of being the only person not invited. It sucks! I hate when I feel unwanted and rejected and just in the way.

But even though all your friends are just humans that hurt and make mistakes. Your very best friend will never ever let you down! He always wants you, he never rejects you and he always wants to spend time with you. You are never alone. He always understands. God loves humans, but he doesn't like the bad things they do. When somebody is hurtful to you, he understands. God is the best friend you ever could get.

So just remember, YOU ARE PRECIOUS, and God WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN. He is always here for you :)

I know I posted this verse before but I like it so much

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

When I was tying my shoelaces...

... after my tennis practice I started thinking about why I'd lost. You see I am such a competitive person and on court I always stress with trying to win. I want to hit a winner every shot and I over analyze and beat myself up when I miss. This is not a good way to play. When I stress and try to hard I usually always play badly. But when I relax and just have fun I play much better. I'm not saying that it's bad to be dedicated and work hard, because if you don't care or chase any balls you probably wouldn't play good either.

THAT'S ME! hahaha just kidding!

But anyway back to the story. So as I was sitting in the locker room thinking about all this I felt God reminded me about something. Suddenly I thought that actually I live as a christian the same way I play tennis. I'm always scared I'm doing something wrong, I always think too much, I over analyze, I always try to do everything perfect and I beat myself up for being a "bad christian" (there is no such thing as a bad christian but I didn't find a better word.) And I really felt like God put on my heart to relax more and just enjoy spending time with him. I don't need to be in a hurry, because growing takes time. And again I'm not suggesting to just stop caring and expect God to do all the work. But you don't have to hit a winner every shot either :D

YOU ARE PRECIOUS!!! <3

Favourite songs

it's quite some time since I posted in the "my favourite songs" category so here is one of my favourite songs. It's oh you bring by Hillsong. I felt like it was a good choice considering that my last post was on storms in our life. So I hope you like it :D

VERSE 1:
Oh You bring hope to the hopeless
And light to those in the darkness
And death to life
Now I’m alive

Oh You give peace to the restless
And joy to homes that are broken
I see You now
In You I’m found

CHORUS:
And You opened the door for me
And You laid down
Your life to set me free
All that I am will serve You Lord
And You opened my eyes to see
All the wonder and awe of Christ in me
Jesus You’re everything I need

VERSE 2:
Oh You fill those who are empty
And rescue those in the valley
And through it all You calm my soul
Oh You find me in my weakness
And heal the wounds of my heartache
I worship You in spirit and truth

BRIDGE:
All honour
All glory
All praise to You

Storms

Luke 8:22-25:

One day he and his disciples got in a boat. "Let's cross the lake," he said. And off they went. It was smooth sailing, and he fell asleep. A terrific storm came up suddenly on the lake. Water poured in, and they were about to capsize. They woke Jesus: "Master, Master, we're going to drown!"
Getting to his feet, he told the wind, "Silence!" and the waves, "Quiet down!" They did it. The lake became smooth as glass.
Then he said to his disciples, "Why can't you trust me?" (the Message)

So why do I bring up this story? I mean it's a super awesome story but is this relevant today? Of course it is! God is a storm calmer! And what do storm-calmers do? Yup, they calm storms. And now you may be thinking that you're not actually in that many life threatening storms. So how can God be calming storms in your life?
Sometimes it feels like we have a storm on the inside. Temptations pull us in different directions like harsh gusts of wind. Depression soaks us like a cold shower of rain. Fear and Anxiety hits us like thunder. We get confused and upset and when people don't understand and see the massive storm we are going through we get even more confused and frustrated. And then the storm escalates. But do not forget to TRUST God! Pray that he will command these bad feelings to leave your heart. Pray that he will set you free from this storm. HE HAS AUTHORITY! He is stronger! And he sees this storm and understands how you are feeling. Let him calm the storms in your life. In daddy's lap you are safe from all storms.

Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good,

a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him (NIV)
